Australian government, 1977

“It is totally contrary to the interests of good government if the national Government is forced to face the people every 18 months.”  – Philip Lynch, Liberal MP  (noted 10/3/77)

Comment: among proposals for change to the Australian Constitution at this time was to create a set term. There had been Federal elections at end 1972, mid 1974, end 1975 and another coming in 1977.
