Retraining women

“There have been many complaints from women refused support for retraining because their absence from the workforce while raising children is not accepted as involuntary unemployment for the purposes of the scheme.”

-Carmel Niland “NEAT and women” a paper presented at the Women in Politics Conference 10/9/75 published in ‘Girls, School and Society’

Noted 21/9/1979

[NEAT was a retraining scheme for people who had been involuntarily out of the workforce due for example to a business closure.]
